Obituary for Carolyn C. Barlow

Carolyn C. (née Correll) Barlow of Philadelphia, PA died unexpectedly but peacefully on January 2, 2019, at the age of 73 years.
Beloved and dedicated wife of 50 years to Richard H. Barlow, Jr.
Devoted and proud mother of daughters Brottie Barlow, her wife, Sylvia Joseph, and Coryell Barlow and son Richard Barlow and his wife, Lisa. She was also the loving Grammy to Lucy, James and Charlie Barlow.
Also survived by many dear and lifetime friends with whom she enjoyed seeing and spending time.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Creighton and Brownie Correll.
To keep busy after retiring from the School District of Philadelphia as the head secretary at Mayfair Elementary School, she joined Williams Sonoma and worked part time on the sales team.
She greatly enjoyed traveling and time with family. Some of her favorite destinations were Italy, Greece, Alaska, Mt. Rushmore, and Newport, Rhode Island. However, spending time at Cape May Point was a little bit of paradise. Because she delighted in peaceful moments sitting on the beach with a little wine and cheese in the late afternoon while watching the sunset.
The greatest gift she presented to this world was her artistic flair and her appreciation and creation of beauty. She immensely enjoyed experiencing all types of museums, the opera, chamber music, artwork, and flowers etc. Further, to properly commemorate each season and holiday, her home was adorned with carefully curated decorations. Additionally, she spent countless hours meticulously selecting flowering plants and tending to the flowerbeds that surround the house and yard, that each spring and summer the blooms creating a picturesque landscape as seen in a home and garden magazine. Her most recent and passionate endeavor was jewelry making. She enjoyed going to classes and trade shows and handcrafted many pieces that she wore.
Carolyn was never boastful of any of these accomplishments; they were merely things she took great delight in doing. This was also because the source of her deepest pride and most cherished possession was her family and closest friends and creating an environment of comfort. Carolyn was a fiercely determined, passionate, and strong willed woman, who never left you guessing what she thought or how she felt. One whose compassion was true and a genuine heart for those she loved.
She will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
