Dorothy Barger Obituary (1931 - 2021)

Dorothy Barger (nee Toner) age 90 of Philadelphia, passed away surrounded by her family on December 19, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Barger. Dorothy was the loving mother of Jennifer Barger and her fiance Ed Barkowitz, Jonathan Barger and his wife MaryJo and Diane Zimmerman. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Robert, Amanda, Brandon, Christian, Brooke, other relatives and dear friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Margaret Sortino. She was a devout catholic and loved her parish of St. Katherine of Siena. She was a graduate of Hallahan High School class of 1949. After graduation she worked as a secretary for Pontiac, after marrying her husband she worked with him to run Frankford Plating in Bridesburg for many years. Dorothy was a very classy lady who took pride in her appearance and loved to shop. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing her slot machines, but most off all she loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am at St. Katherine of Sienna R.C. Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue Philadelphia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow Tuesday, 11:00 am at St. Katherine of Sienna Church. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery with her husband.
