Enock Benjamin Obituary (1951 - 2020)

Enock "Chief" Benjamin age 70, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 3, 2020 at his home. One of five siblings Enock was born March 10, 1950 in Carrefour Peye, Haiti. Enock spent the latter part of his life as the Chief Steward of Local 1776 of the United Food and Commercial Workers. He was a prominent figure in the local Philadelphia Haitian community and advocated for the rights of immigrants in and outside of the workplace. Enock was a great storyteller, doting father and grandfather and an avid movie watcher. He was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew him. Enock is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Mireille Benjamin; his two children Debbie and Ferdinand Benjamin; and his granddaughter Nyla Cienna Benjamin. He will be missed by his brothers Ernest Benjamin and Franklin Benjamin, sister Ismella Benjamin, sister-in-law Fran Carpo and brothers-in-law Melius Joseph and Reynold Meristil. He will also be missed by his nieces Myriam Benjamin, Malika Benjamin, Tara Benjamin, Yara Benjamin, Saintecile Benjamin, Roseline Benjamin, Renalda Benjamin, great niece Mahalia Lerebours and nephews Mackandal Joseph, Ernst Benjamin, Chakou Benjamin and Claudel Benjamin. Relatives and friends may greet his family on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at 8000 Rowland Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19136. His memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the request of his family.
