Ricardo Abesamis

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ricardo Rivera Abesamis, a cherished husband, uncle, and friend, who quietly passed away on May 1, 2024. Born on January 2, 1927, in Jaen, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Ricardo's life was a testament to his strength and selflessness. His life was guided by the words of Albert Einstein, "In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity." Embodying this spirit, Ricardo navigated life's challenges with grace, seeing every obstacle as a chance to grow and learn.

Ricardo relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he built a life of purpose and meaning. He dedicated his career to serving his community as an Auditor for the IRS, a role he held until his retirement. His diligence, integrity, and keen eye for detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the public he served. Ricardo's work ethic was rivaled only by his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and faith. In his own quiet way, he radiated warmth and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Ricardo is survived by his loving wife, Orpha Abesamis, his caring niece, Omega Ocampo, and his devoted nephew, Bill Bernardo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcos Abesamis and Maria Rivera. A visitation service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, at the Calvary Memorial Church, 7200 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19149. His homegoing service will follow at Calvary Memorial Church at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.

Ricardo's life was beautifully simple, defined by humility, generosity, and dedication to his loved ones. As we bid him farewell, we remember the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Ricardo's life and his love will forever remain a part of us.

We invite all who knew Ricardo to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. In our collective remembrance, we can celebrate the remarkable life that Ricardo led and honor his enduring legacy.
