Elizabeth "Betty" Tilson Obituary (1918 - 2017)

Elizabeth "Betty" Victoria Tilson ( nee Smyth) age 99, passed away on October 22, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late William H Tilson, Jr for over 60 years. She was born in Belfast Northern Ireland to David and Elizabeth Smyth and immigrated to this country as a child. She was a loving mother to William H Tilson III (wife, Zanna) and the late Mark A Tilson (wife, Anne). In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Heather L Tilson, and brothers Andrew and Zachary Tilson, as well as step granddaughters Brooke White (husband, Steve) ,and Brynne Bruno (husband, Marc). She is also survived by six step great grandchildren: Camryn, Colin and Lauren White and Lara, Megan and Claire Bruno. She is also survived by two nieces, Eileen Larsen and Karen Reddy Kinkead . After high school, Betty worked as a nurse at Shriners Hospital, focusing on children who had to be placed in iron lungs. She was a homemaker who faithfully attended the Seventh United Presbyterian Church most of her life. She was an avid and talented knitter until age 95. She taught others to knit and donated her beautiful knit goods to children with AIDS and cancer, as well as her family. Betty was a generous, loving person who never complained and remained optimistic in all circumstances. She leaves us with many treasured, warm memories. Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service, Wednesday November 8th ,2017,11:00 at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty's name to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
