Lewis Lamar Reilly Obituary (1932 - 2021)

Lewis was born in Pottsville, PA on December 26, 1932. He died peacefully in the Vitas Hospice Unit at Nazareth Hospital on August 9, 2021. Lewis worked for many years at the iconic Lit Brothers Department Store, mainly in the book department. Thereafter he worked for various publishers, including J. B. Lippincott, Macrae-Smith, and Walker Publishing Company, the publishing house that brought John le Carre's first three novels to America. Lewis's favorite holidays were Washington's Birthday (now Presidents' Day) and Easter. He greatly enjoyed traveling, attending exhibits of works by the renowned jeweler Faberge, touring unique sites such as The House on the Rock in Wisconsin, and watching James Bond movies and various English mystery series. Lewis also loved nature. Though confined to a facility in his last years due to health issues, he particularly enjoyed seeing hawks soar and squirrels scamper. He even domesticated a field mouse whom he named Morty. Lewis had a joyous personality and his smile would light up a room. He was generosity personified. Furthermore, Lewis never failed to express gratitude to anyone who performed even the smallest act of kindness for him. He is dearly missed by Margaret Kizis, his loving companion of fifty-seven years. Lewis's remains were interred in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on August 13, 2021.
