Melvine Smith

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Melvine Beatrice Smith, a dedicated and charismatic follower of Christ, was called home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2023. Born in Norfolk, VA on March 5, 1945, to the late Alma Boykin and Henry Smith, Melvine was a compassionate and spirited woman who touched the lives of many in her 78 years.
Melvine graduated from Booker T Washington High School in 1994.
She attended and graduated from Community College of Philadelphia with a degree in Administration, in 1994.
Before retirement in 2007, Melvine worked for the Environmental Protection Agency, for 20 years. She was loved by many and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
She was a longtime resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was actively involved in her community and her church.
Melvine was an active and faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, where she served as a representative for the Little Flock. She enjoyed donating her time helping with the Little Flock in various church conferences and activities.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived by the words of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Melvine's love for her family and her church brought joy to those who knew her, and her dedication to her faith was an inspiration to all. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, window shopping, talking to family and friends, and sightseeing--always appreciating the beauty of God's creation.
Melvine was preceded in death by her parents, Alma Boykin and Henry Smith. Her sisters, Bernadette Patterson, Mary Elizabeth Pannell, and Kathleen Smith, her brothers Ronald Smith and Edward Smith.
Melvine's beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving children, Latrice N. Smith-Davis, Vanessa Smith, and Markeith Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Zamir Wydner-Smith, Marjae Smith, Rashon Davis, and LeVar III. Her sisters Cynthia Boykin, Marlene Frederick, Constance (Connie) Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

We invite you to leave your memories of Melvine and upload any photos you may have of her to the memorial page, so we may all cherish the times we've shared with this extraordinary woman.
